Castration??

My parents have sheltered me from info on male genitalia (idiots) but ive recently educated myself. but not fully. I heard some friends joking about castrating a guy. what dose that mean?
Answer:
Eww! No red-blooded guy wants to hear that "c" word!! It's a surgery to remove the entire balls. (willingly or unwillingly)
Google it. It is the excision of the testes. Common with most livestock - horses, sheep etc.
The exposed male genitals consist of a penis and scrotum. Normally, within the scrotum are two testicles. Surgical removal of the testicles is called castration. It is not a good idea. The testicles produce sperm for fertilising human eggs as well as testosterone, the male growth hormone. If you remove one, the other testicle can perform normally.. but if you remove both... you create a hormone imbalance... well that's what I think anyway. Men dont talk about castration. IT's too nasty.
Medically, castration refers to making a man infertile either through surgically removing his testicles or by giving him hormonal drugs. It is usually permanent.

In colloquial speech, castration can also refer to cutting a man's penis off, but that's technically incorrect.
